Organized in 1901 as the first English-speaking congregation in New Salem (a German colonization), this building opened its doors to all as the First Presbyterian Church. The sandstone foundation, curved pews and beautiful stained glass windows are unique. The east side of building features an outdoor labyrinth for all to walk, pray and meditate. Present ownership is Salem United Church of Christ with Sunday worship services at 9:30 a.m. Handicapped accessible via elevator. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

The "World's Largest Holstein Cow," built to honor the dairymen of the area, weighing in at 12,000 lbs., Sue is 38 ft. tall and 50 ft. long! This landmark is visible for five miles and continues to be a dominant figure in North Dakota's landscape since its inception in 1974 as a New Salem Lions project. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful view from the top at her location. For our long distance travelers, the dirt road leading to the cow is easily drivable for a 25-foot motorhome, but there is a switchback with room for only one vehicle and some slope.
