Established in 1901 as the first English-speaking congregation in New Salem—a community rooted in German heritage—this historic building originally served as the First Presbyterian Church. It features a striking sandstone foundation, elegantly curved pews, and stunning stained glass windows.
On the east side of the building, visitors can experience an outdoor labyrinth, designed as a peaceful space for walking, prayer, and meditation. The church is now home to Salem United Church of Christ, which holds Sunday worship services at 9:30 a.m. The facility is fully accessible, with an elevator for those with mobility needs.
